Equipment

  • large pot
  • colander
  • baking dish
  • mixing spoon
  • aluminum foil

Ingredients

  • 8 oz lasagna sheets (broken into pieces)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or jarred)
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup ricotta cheese (optional)
  • 0.25 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional garnish)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Cook the broken lasagna sheets in salted boiling water for 6–8 minutes until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Add a layer of pasta, then spoon over more sauce and sprinkle mozzarella on top.
  • Repeat the layers 2–3 times depending on your dish size. Optionally, add dollops of ricotta between layers and finish with Parmesan on top.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Then uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  • Let the dish rest for 10–15 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

Use your favorite cheese blends like mozzarella, ricotta, and Parmesan. Add browned ground beef or sautéed veggies for a heartier version. Make it ahead, freeze leftovers, or serve with garlic bread and salad. Let it rest 10–15 minutes before serving for best texture.
